Megan Lewis-Grant, 44, took notes as her father, Teddy Lewis testified. Ms. Lewis-Grant is accused of having a role in the death of Michael Grant in September 2007. Grant was her ex-husband and had custody of the couple's two children.
Investigators found Grant's body in a bar ditch near the neighborhood where his home was located. It was wrapped in sheets held in place with a rope and coaxial cable. The body had 12 stab wounds.
Lewis testified that neither his daughter nor grandson, Jamie Grant, 16, showed any emotion after the murder. Earlier this year, the younger Grant pleaded guilty to murder in connection with his father's death and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Lewis-Grant was manipulitive with her son, her father testified.
At one family gathering Ms. Lewis-Grant uttered a remark in front of her children that caused her father to step in and give council to his grandson, he said.
Lewis said his daughter said she would be better off if Grant was dead and openly wished it would happen.
At that her son said, "I'll do it for you, Mom," Lewis tesified.
After Jamie Grant's remark, Lewis told his grandson "Don't say that, don't even think it. Nothing is worth taking a life over."
