Mr. Sanders died Sunday, Dec. 28, in Pflugerville.
He was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Lamar, Okla. to Charles and Clydie Sanders. He was a resident of Killeen for more than 25 years; he was a meat cutter for civil service at the Fort Hood Commissary; he was a founding member of the Southside Church of Christ, after his wife’s death he moved to Pflugerville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, his awards include: Good Conduct Medal; Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one arrowhead and four campaign stars: American Defense Service Ribbon; Pacific Theater Ribbon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Sanders and a daughter, Viva Ann Sanders.
Survivors include two daughters, Cerrita Rowell of Pflugerville and Merri Sanders-Dawson of Irving; a stepdaughter, Jonnie Calapp of Eagle Mountain, Utah; and Six grandchildren.
