Mr. Ball died on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at a Fort Hood hospital.
He was born on Feb. 17, 1939 to Jessie Thurman Ball and Geneva Carpenter Ball in Dallas.
He was a retired Army master sergeant, a retired civil service worker and a Methodist.
Mr. Ball received the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Good Conduct Medal with a silver clasp and two loops.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Ball of Richmond, Gary Ball of Havelock, N.C., Kevin Ball of Southlake; two brothers, Kent Ennis of Phoenix and Ronnie Ennis of Fort Worth and five grandchildren.
Sheppard Funeral Home of Copperas Cove is in charge of arrangements.
