Temple (4-5) opened the day with a 25-17, 25-23 win over Waller, a team the Tem-Cats lost to at home in five sets earlier this week. The Tem-Cats then lost to Arlington Grace Prep 25-19, 21-25, 22-5 and Gatesville 16-25, 22-25.
The Tem-Cats play Joshua at 10 a.m. today.
Despite dropping two of three, Temple is guaranteed to finish in the top 12 of the 32-team tournament. That’s Temple’s best finish in the last three seasons.
“Of course we have a long way to go,” Temple coach Susie Hughlett said. “We have to be more consistent, but we haven’t had a whole lot of practice. Once we get home, we’ll fix a few things. The thing right now is we’re just too inconsistent.”
Temple won two of three to open the tournament Thursday. The Tem-Cats opened play with a 25-10, 25-10 win over Diamond Hill-Jarvis before falling to Fort Worth Arlington Heights 25-23, 18-25, 26-24. Temple closed out the day with a 16-25, 16-25 loss to Arlington Seguin.
