Burial will follow in Corn Hill Cemetery in Jarrell.
Mr. Paredes died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.
He was born June 26, 1922, to Gumecindo and Juanita Villareal Paredes in Hillsboro. He served in World War II as a private in the U.S. Army infantry, in the Second Division in France, Belgium, and Germany. Returning home, he worked as a farmer and a welder for Griggs Equipment Company, retiring after more than 20 years. He married Antonia Guajardo in October of 1952 in Salado. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004 and a son, Juan.
Survivors include two sons, Tomas of Sherman, Joe of Round Rock; a daughter, Mary Christy of Jarrell; three sisters, Alfonza, Felipa and Christina Paredes; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m.
