Mr. Morgan died Thursday, Jan. 1, in a Temple hospital.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Lufkin to Carl A. and Oddie Curry Morgan. He attended Lufkin schools. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950 and completed basic training in California. He fought in the Korean War and in Japan and was awarded the Bronze Star medal. He married Elizabeth V. Sanders Aug. 24, 1953, in Houston. He was an ordained Pentecostal Church of God minister. He was a truck driver for 22 years, last driving for Design Transportation.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carl W. Morgan.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Benny C. Morgan of McGregor and Dan W. Morgan of Navasota; a daughter, Betty N. Schultz of McGregor; three sisters, Jeannie Ruth Johnson, Altha Morgan, and Linda Gale Bailey; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
