As wonderful as some foster parents can be, children yearn for a “forever family.”
The Cultural Activities Center for the first time is hanging a portrait exhibit of some of the 500 children in the foster care system in Central Texas who are available for adoption. More than 59 documentary and portrait photographers volunteered their time to capture the childrens’ personalities.
The Heart Gallery of Central Texas, which coordinated the exhibit, is a project of Adoption Coalition of Texas, an umbrella organization that partners with The Arrow Project, Child Protective Services, Homes4Good, Lutheran Social Services, Marywood Children and Family Services, and Pathways Youth and Family Services to help find good homes.
The exhibit opens Friday with an artists’ reception 7-9 p.m. The portraits will be on display through Feb. 6.
