“Dr. Oldham is an effective leader who is passionate about strengthening our academic programs,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Randy O’Rear. “He has proved to be a champion for academic and faculty interests. I am confident the future of UMHB is bright with Dr. Oldham leading the way in Academic Affairs.”
Oldham, who has been an associate professor of religion and philosophy in the College of Christian Studies at UMHB since 2000, has served as the director of the Honors Program and on numerous administrative and academic committees, including the strategic planning committee and core curriculum committee. He has been serving as interim provost/vice president for academic affairs at the university since July 2008
The recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, Oldham most recently received the Gamma Beta Phi Faculty/Staff Award and the Stellar Performance Award at UMHB. He has had many publications and presentations in the areas of religion and philosophy. He is a member of several professional organizations and, in 2007, was named vice president of the Southwest Region of the American Academy of Religion.
Oldham earned a doctorate of philosophy from Baylor University; a master of theology degree from Bethel Seminary in St Paul, Minn.; a master of divinity degree from the Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis; and a bachelor of arts degree in biblical studies from Pillsbury College in Owatonna, Minn.
Oldham and his wife, Terri, have two children: Seth, a senior at Belton High School, and Heather, a graduate student at Virginia Tech.
