Arnold touched in 1 minute, 0.43 seconds and earned his event’s top seed by almost two seconds over the next fastest qualifier.
“Trent’s been swimming around that time for the last couple of meets,” Temple coach Trey Sullivan said. “I think he’s going to go under a minute, and maybe he’ll finally see some competition at state.”
The winner of each event and the next eight best times from any of the eight regionals advance to University Interscholastic League State Meet.
Also earning a top seed for today’s finals was Joey Jaworski, who had the fastest prelim time in the 100 freestyle and is the second seed in the 50 free. Sullivan also said that all of Temple’s relays qualified for the finals as did almost all of Temple’s girls, who are one point out of third place in the team standings.
