Voss made two free throws with 2.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie it at 66 before Braeuer capped the first overtime period with a fadeaway jumper that knotted it at 74. The Bulldawgs outscored the Tigers 10-5 in the second extra session to end it.
“After the first quarter, I really thought we played well enough to deserve to win, as did Cove,” Belton coach John Osborn said. “It was one of those games where probably neither team needed to feel like they lost, but it didn’t go our way.”
The Tigers (9-21, 3-10 District 12-5A) fell behind 21-9 in the first quarter but rallied to grab a 31-30 halftime lead.
Braeuer poured in 19 points to pace Belton, which closes out the season Tuesday night at home against Killeen Ellison. Jeff Lepak added 15 points for the Tigers, who got 12 apiece from Voss and Michael Huddleston.
