Cisco post LeKendra Smith scored 32 points to lead the Lady Wranglers over the Lady Leopards 81-64.
“We just didn’t get physical enough with their post,” Temple coach Kim Sebek said. “They outrebounded us and we gave them too many second-chance points.”
Kenesha Rich and Chloe Wallace led the Lady Leopards with 12 points each and Courtney Moore and Jessica Sommers added 11. But the Lady Leopards were playing short-handed, with starting point guard Brittany Roberson and reserve guard Shaquitta Martin out due to illness.
The Lady Leopards fell to 14-11 overall and 7-5 in conference. Cisco improved to 11-15, 4-8.
The loss also dropped the Lady Leopards to fifth in the conference standings, a half-game behind Hill and Grayson. A win would have put the Lady Leopards in second place, just a half-game back of Weatherford, which lost to Collin County on Saturday.
“We are back to our road struggles,” Sebek said. “Now we really determine our own fate and our next games are very big.”
The Lady Leopards will travel to McLennan (10-14, 5-6) for a 5:30 p.m. tip on Monday in Waco and then host Southwestern Christian on Wednesday.
