Poteet (8-2) tied the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Guevara’s double drove in two runners and Espinosa (4-5) retired Poteet in order in the seventh.
“That was overall our best game from start to finish this season,” said Temple coach Steve Prentiss, whose team won two games on Thursday.
Temple came out strong against Ennis and led 4-1 through 3˝ innings, but the home team took advantage of six hits and some Tem-Cat defensive lapses to score six runs and take control. Jenna Bane had a triple and a double for Temple.
The Tem-Cats will complete their tournament stay today by playing Dumas at 11 a.m. and Red Oak at 3 p.m.
Lady Tigers split tournament games at Brazosport
BRAZOSPORT - The Belton Lady Tigers split at the second day of the Brazosport ISD tournament. Belton beat Lamar 5-1 in the first game and lost 5-1 to host Brazosport in the second.
The Lady Tigers (7-4) play Brazoswood at 9 a.m. today and Alvin Manvel at 1 p.m.
