Behind a three-hitter by Elisa Espinoza, the Tem-Cats beat Bryan 2-0 Friday afternoon to get back to .500 in district play.
“If somebody would have told me back in January that we’d be 2-2, I’d take it,” Temple coach Steve Prentiss said. “We felt like we’ve faced four of the toughest teams in our district.”
Temple (11-11-1 overall, 2-2 in 12-5A) scored in the fourth off a Bryan error. In the fifth, catcher Kacie Easley singled in Emily Vickery, who also reached on a single, for a 2-0 lead.
Espinoza picked up her second win in district to improve to 11-9.
“We’re playing well right now,” Prentiss said.
The Tem-Cats host Copperas Cove on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before visiting Harker Heights on Friday night.
