BELTON - Leadoff batter Andrew White was 4-for-5 with two triples, a double and five runs batted in and the Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team scored 13 runs in the fourth and fifth innings en route to a 20-6 non-conference win over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Tuesday afternoon at Red Murff Field.

The Crusaders improved to 15-9 and the Lions dropped to 10-21.

Rogers product Ricky Brenek (1-0) earned the win in relief of Belton graduate Cameron Arnett, who struck out six but allowed six hits and five runs in three innings.

A first-inning single by Josh Fredrick (Troy) drove in White for a 1-0 lead, but SAGU scored five runs in the top of the second to go up 5-1. White ripped a three-run double in UMHB’s half of the second to make it 5-4, then Doak Fleming’s two-run double, RBI doubles by Alfredo Melendez and Fredrick and White’s two-run triple were the highlights as the Crusaders exploded in the fourth and fifth.

UMHB will travel to Seguin to battle Texas Lutheran in a series beginning with a single game at 2 p.m. Friday, followed by a doubleheader at noon Saturday. UMHB, TLU and Schreiner are tied for first in the American Southwest Conference’s West Division.
