At about 10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a robbery in progress at Pool’s Grocery, 1720 S. First St., according to a press release from Sgt. Brad Hunt of the Temple Police Department. Officers arrived to discover two men had entered the store and both displayed handguns to the two clerks on duty.
They demanded cash from the registers, which the clerks handed over. They then left the store on foot, according to the release. The clerks were not injured.
The two men were seen leaving the store, and running north toward an apartment complex in the 100 block of West Avenue R. They got into a vehicle of unknown description, which then fled the area.
The incident is similar to two other robberies that occurred this week. A robbery took place at about 12:40 a.m. Monday at the 7-11 convenience store, 2701 N. Third St. Another occurred at 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the Super 8 Motel, 5505 S. General Bruce Drive.
Hunt confirmed that in all three robberies, two males entered the store and that, in each case, there was at least one handgun used. The description given of the suspects is also similar in each robbery - suspect tall, about 6’0”; the other much shorter, about 5’6”. Both wore masks and dark clothing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Temple police at 254-298-5500.
