“The weather conditions were brutal,” Temple coach Larry Haynes said. “So we were able to score on passed balls, dropped flies, and even bad pickoffs. We took advantage of their mistakes."
Matamoros and Nich Crosswhite also had run-scoring doubles for the Wildcats, who improved to 6-12 overall and 2-2 in District 12-5A.
“Maybe this will give us some momentum for our next two games,” Haynes added. “We have two tough opponents this coming week against Bryan and Belton."
