Ralph Wilson Youth Clubs seeks support in Wildflower Charity Golf Classic

With the Ralph Wilson Youth Clubs needing to raise funds to continue supporting Temple children ages 5-14, executive director Charlie Kimmey is encouraging all interested golfers to play in the Dr. Ralph Wilson Jr. Wildflower Charity Golf Classic. The eighth annual event is set for Monday, April 13 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Wildflower Country Club.

The donation is $125 per person, with players urged to register by Wednesday. Proceeds will be used to replace aging air conditioners at RWYC - which has existed since 1965 and offers after-school, basketball and summer programs - and to provide scholarship assistance for club members. The tournament will have four-person teams and a scramble format. The donation includes golf, awards, prizes, lunch, dinner and beverages.

“The need is greater than ever for the youth club, and it serves such a great purpose,” Kimmey said, adding that last year’s event raised $70,000 but that his goal in this year’s tougher economy is $50,000.

To register or receive more information, call Kimmey at 913-5483 or Wildflower’s Bill Euler or Mike Cowan at 771-1477.
