Burial will follow in Bangs Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Hawkins died Sunday, April 5, in a Temple hospital
He was born on Aug. 25, 1931, to the late Roy Lee Hawkins Sr. and Lamphey Starkey Hawkins in Wellington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Medal. He worked as a jeweler and a carpenter. He was a Baptist and a member of the VFW Post No. 1820 in Temple. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Dail Hawkins.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Bilton of Austin; a daughter, Kevin Lankes of Temple; two sisters, Ann Hamlett of Brownwood and Yvonne Barbaree of Bangs; and five grandchildren.
