Mr. Jones died Thursday, April 16.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1923, to Dero B. and Mittie Lee Crow Jones near Gatesville. He attended school in Turnersville and joined the Navy in 1942. He served as a tail gunner in the Pacific and was wounded in combat. After World War II, he worked in the oilfield in West Texas. He married Lois I. “Nonie” Eldred on July 22, 1952. In 1964, he moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where he worked for the nuclear test site. His career in drilling took him to Norway in 1971, where he worked offshore. Serving as a drilling superintendent and manager, he worked in Australia, Libya, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Spain, Scotland and other countries around the globe. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherri D. Davis of Austin and Carolyn Claggett of Hewitt; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
