The Tigers had 16 all-district selections and the Lady Tigers 15, including both Most Valuable Players in senior forwards Josh Caffey and Chelsea Jones. Also, senior forward Vincent Crepeau was the boys Offensive MVP, sophomore forward Jourdan Brown was the girls Co-Offensive MVP and senior Kali Hellinghausen was girls Defensive MVP.
The Temple Wildcats had seven players honored on the all-league list, while the Lady Wildcats had nine. Temple’s five first-team selections were senior midfielder Andrew Minzenmayer and junior defender Brandon Dutton on the boys team and senior midfielder Lauren Muniz, junior defender Kaitlyn Muniz and sophomore forward Shannon Fogleman on the girls squad.
Belton’s boys (26-2) - the district champions at 14-0 who were ranked as high as No. 3 in ESPN RISE’s Fab 50 poll - also had the Co-Newcomer of the Year in sophomore forward Tayron Martin.
The Lady Tigers (21-2-3), the district champions with a 14-0 league record, added five players to the first team - senior forward Michelle Hagen, junior defender Kallie Lahey, junior midfielders Lauren Van Orden and Taylor Pressley and sophomore goalkeeper Kelsi Darr.
Caffey, a New Mexico signee, scored 36 goals and had 12 assists during district matches. He finished with 103 career goals.
Crepeau scored 31 goals, along with 12 assists and Martin had 14 goals and nine assists to pace an offense that scored 80 goals in district play.
Also on the first team for the Tigers were junior goalkeeper Manuel Amaya, junior midfielder Brandon Maldonado, sophomore midfielder Tyler Pate, junior defender Christian Bass and sophomore defender Quinton Drake.
Temple (14-12) - which missed the playoffs for just the third time in 26 years - had a pair of second-team selections: senior forward Itai Meki and junior defender Tyler Gibson. Junior goalkeeper Brandon Stegmeyer, junior defender Garrett Walsingham and senior Tawanda Meki were named to the honorable mention list.
Belton had five second-team selections in senior defenders Cade Carlson and Erasmo Gallegos, junior defender Dillon Darr, senior midfielder Nick Palamara and sophomore midfielder Garret Patterson. Honorable mention players were senior midfielder Cody Kite, sophomore midfielder Evan McLaughlin and freshman defender Logan Hellinghausen.
Belton’s Tarcisio Mosnia and Killeen Ellison’s Niles Dunnells shared Coach of the Year honors.
Jones, a Texas A&M signee, had 26 goals to go with 13 assists during district matches, and Brown posted 24 goals with 13 assists to share the offensive honor with College Station A&M Consolidated senior Taylor Pounds. Hellinghausen - a Northwestern State signee - anchored a back line that allowed only three district goals and worked 12 shutouts.
The Temple girls (15-9-1) - who went 8-5-1 in district and won a playoff game for the first time since 2002 - had second-teamers were senior forward Kristen Kylberg, junior midfielder Rebecca Petro and junior forward Marissa Cervantez. Junior Jasmin Ringer, sophomore Emily Fritz and freshman Abby Blunt received honorable mention for Temple.
Belton’s second-teamers were senior midfielder Dalaine Whitlock, junior midfielders August Kohutek and Taylor McMillan and sophomore midfielder Madi Coufal. Junior Jamie Tish, sophomore Carina Dunnahoo and freshman Hadley Young received honorable mention for the Lady Tigers.
Temple’s Oscar Bersoza and Belton’s Barry Elkins shared the girls Coach of the Year honor.
