GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Former Temple High School baseball standout Danny Hernandez is making a positive impact for Houston’s nationally ranked San Jacinto College in the Junior College World Series.
The 2006 District 13-5A Most Valuable Player as a Wildcats junior, sophomore Hernandez is the starting third baseman for the No. 7 Gators (45-10) - he hit .369 with 15 doubles in the regular season - and aided their first two wins in the World Series.
Hernandez was 1-for-4 and scored a run in San Jac’s 7-1 win over Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) on Sunday and went 1-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored as the Gators beat Santa Fe (Fla.) 9-4 on Tuesday. The combined attendance of those games was 18,263 fans.
