Colon, a freshman left-hander from Del Valle who has signed with Texas State, was the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. He went 11-0 with a 1.94 earned-run average and 86 strikeouts for Craig McMurtry’s Leopards.
Colon was masterful in his final TC game, striking out 12 and allowing two hits in eight innings in a 3-1 win over McLennan in the Region V Tournament in Fort Worth. He and the Leopards finished 44-16 after winning their first conference title and beating eventual national champion Howard 8-2 in the regional, the No. 1 Hawks’ lone loss this year.
