SALADO - Jeanette McKinney will be hired as the third Salado girls basketball coach in three years pending approval at the school board’s June 15 meeting, according to athletic director Jeff Cheatham.

McKinney, a 1982 Brigham Young graduate, will also serve as a softball assistant. She spent the previous three seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at NCAA Division III Schreiner University. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Division III Concordia Texas and head coach at Tomball Concordia Lutheran High School.

McKinney will replace Randy Henderson, who resigned in April. The Lady Eagles return nine players, including four junior starters, from last year’s 27-10 squad that reached the University Interscholastic League Class 2A state tournament before losing to Woodville in the semifinals.
