BFA sets watercolor class

Joan Hoffman, an award winning art teacher from Salado, will teach a one-day watercolor class 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 at the Bell Fine Arts building, 306 E. Fifth St. in Belton.

The lesson will serve the beginner as an introduction to the medium, or the seasoned painter as a refresher.

Ms. Hoffman is well known around Central Texas for her delicate still lifes and landscapes. She has been awarded prizes from local and state contests. Her paintings appear on the Texas State marriage and birth certificates. She has taught in Salado for many years and is a charter member of the Salado Village Artists.

Ms. Hoffman said “a day without learning something new about watercolor is not a full day.” She is extremely well versed about the paints she loves, and, as one student said, “She knows more about color and how to use it than most people learn in a lifetime.”

The class will explore how to get the most use from the paints as well as how to mix and apply. Admission to the class is $50. Students should take a sack lunch but drinks will be provided.

To register, call Marilyn Kovacs at 774-8160 or leave a message with Bell Fine Arts at 939-0414.
