Thelma McPherson

BELTON — Services for Thelma Fay McPherson, 93, of Belton will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton with the Rev. Jeff Loudin and the Rev. Bobby Ellis officiating.

Burial will follow in North Belton Cemetery.

She died Monday, June 15, in a local care facility.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1916, to George A. “Gus” and Maudie E. Wise Whitson in Borden County. She married Luther R. McPherson on June 6, 1937, in Itasca and moved to Belton in 1943. She worked for the Postal Directory then Camp Hood during World War II, and for the Belton Bookstore. She later was co-owner/manager of the Treasure Nook in Belton. She was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Prayer Ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years in 1999, and a daughter, Deanna Autry, in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Gaye Dawn Darilek of Belton; a brother, J.R. Whitson of Georgetown; three sisters, Jennie Ellis and Irene Jackson, both of Belton, and Sallie Autry of Denton; two grandsons; and four grandchildren.
