Judge issues injunction against city for Martha's Kitchen

A Bell County district judge on Wednesday issued a temporary injunction against the city of Temple favoring Martha's Kitchen.

The city has been attempting to shut down the shelter's men's dorms, thrift store and furniture warehouse, citing code violations, and electrical and structural concerns.

The temporary injunction will allow Martha's Kitchen to remain open as usual until a future court date.

Martha's Kitchen also has an appeal filed at the courthouse that could affect the injunction in the future.

Martha's Kitchen volunteer board chairman Ray Severn said he didn't know what to expect going into the hearing, but was happy with the outcome, saying business would go on as usual.
