His body was cremated and private services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Johnson was born May 1, 1943, in Cameron to Lewis Haywood Johnson and Lillie Mae Hairston. He was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Minerva. He was employed for 15 years by Boral Industries of Rockdale as a plant operator; formerly was employed as a driller with B&B Drilling of Milano; and as an X-ray technician for Richards Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He lived in Minerva for past 45 years and was a long-time resident of Milam County.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicky Johnson, and a son, Travis Johnson.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Johnson, Shane Johnson, both of Minerva, and Vince Johnson of Pearland; his mother of Minerva; a sister, Kathe Keller of Michigan; and 10 grandchildren.
Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale is in charge of arrangements.
