Parts of Temple return to Stage 5 water conservation

Temple residents west of Texas 317 and south of Airport Road are once again restricted from all nonessential water use and from all outdoor watering.

City Manager David Blackburn reinstated Stage 5 water conservation Monday night, saying, “The water pump system and the water tank storage system have simply not been able to keep up with the demand. Water storage levels are now very low and present concerns for fire safety purposes.”

Blackburn asks residents to heed the call for water conservation as they work through the situation.

Stage 5 conservation prohibits irrigation of landscaped areas and using water to wash any vehicle. Water-rationing measures may be instituted: 8,000 gallons per month for single family residents (surcharges apply).

More information on Stage 5 conservation is available at www.ci.temple.tx.us under Public Works.
