Temple, UMHB graduate Garner fills in for Nadel on Rangers radio boadcasts

ARLINGTON - Temple and Mary Hardin-Baylor graduate Scott Garner has been called up to the major leagues. It’s as a radio announcer, not a player, and it’s for two games, not permanently or even the rest of the season, but it’s still the big leagues.

With longtime Texas Rangers play-by-play voice Eric Nadel out briefly to have a surgical procedure, Garner joined first-year Rangers radio announcer Dave Barnett in the booth for Texas’ home games against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday and Tuesday.

Garner, who graduated from Temple in 1993 and UMHB, where he played baseball, in ’98, is in his seventh season as play-by-play voice of the Frisco RoughRiders, the Rangers’ Double-A team in the Texas League.
