H.C. Williams

Services for H.C. “Rusty” Williams, 75, of Temple will be 2 p.m. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple with military honors.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday, June 30, in a Temple hospital.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1934, to Chester and Albina Kubena Williams in Snook. He attended schools in Caldwell. He married Carole Mako on Jan. 8, 1993. He served in the U.S. Army, 1951-1953, during the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart medal and numerous other commendations. He went to Radiology Technology school. He then worked for Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple as an X-ray technician, retiring in 1996 after 31 years. He coached little league baseball and soccer; worked with the Pioneers Group at Scott & White and with the Children’s Miracle Network. He was past president of the Sunset Lions Club. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Bobby Allen.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years of Temple; three sons, Blaine Williams of Giddings, Michael Williams of Tyler and Lester Williams of Arlington; three daughters, Cheryl Pounder of El Campo, Lela Horelica of Wharton and Shauna Williams of Mansfield; two stepsons, Bill Allen of Austin and Dale Allen of Woodsworth, La.; two stepdaughters, Jenny Davis and Jodie Guthrie, both of Temple; a brother, Clinton Williams of Acworth, Ga.; a sister, Ruth Johnson of Giddings; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network, c/o Scott & White Development Office, 2401 S. 31st. St., Temple, 76508.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
