Temple High School’s District 12-5A home softball game against Copperas Cove originally was scheduled for Tuesday night, then got pushed to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
However, rain began to fall less than an hour before the start time and the game was rescheduled for 5 p.m. today, weather permitting.
Both teams have games scheduled for Friday, so if they are unable to play today they likely would try to get their game in on Saturday, Temple coach Steve Prentiss said.
Belton’s home softball game against Killeen Ellison was rained out after being rescheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday. Because Ellison could not secure a bus to return to Belton today, the Lady Tigers will travel to Killeen to play the Lady Eagles at 6 p.m. today. The switch means that April 17’s Belton-Ellison game will be played at Belton.
Temple College’s first-place baseball team led Hill College 8-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday afternoon in the first game of their conference doubleheader in Hillsboro when rain intervened.
TC coach Craig McMurtry said the teams will resume the seven-inning opener at 2 p.m. today, with Hill having runners at first base and second with two outs. The teams’ nine-inning finale in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play will begin 30 minutes after the opener ends.
Also, TC softball’s conference doubleheader at Cisco was rained out Wednesday and tentatively moved to 1 p.m. today.
