Former TISD employee charged with indecency with child

A former Temple Independent School District employee has been arrested on a felony charge of indecency with a child in an incident involving a middle school student, according to a press release from Sgt. Brad Hunt, spokesman for the Temple Police Department.

On Wednesday, a Temple police officer was notified of alleged improper contact between a 13-year-old victim and Richard Trevino, 52, of Temple. The alleged incidents occurred between late January and early February of this year in Temple, according to the press release. The officer completed a report that day, and notified the general investigations unit of the allegations.

Investigators immediately began gathering evidence in the case. On Friday, they presented the case for review by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, which issued a complaint and affidavit.

Trevino was arrested Friday on the felony charge, and taken to the Bell County Jail. Bond is set at $25,000.

Trevino was employed by the Temple ISD as a bus driver from April 2007 to April 2009, according to a press release from TISD. In hiring Trevino, Temple ISD complied with employment procedure, including the responsibility of obtaining a criminal background check. Temple ISD had initiated an investigation involving Trevino.

During the course of that investigation, Trevino resigned.

The Temple Independent School District is fully cooperating with the Temple Police Department regarding this matter, according to the TISD press release.
