Former Temple WR Reese helps USA hammer Canada

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Former Temple wide receiver Tevin Reese helped lead Team USA to the gold medal in a 41-3 rout over Canada on Sunday in the 2009 International Federation of American Football Junior World Championship.

Reese, who will attend Baylor, caught two passes for 17 yards and returned one kickoff for 28 yards.

As a senior Reese caught 31 passes for 542 yards and three touchdowns for the 5-6 Wildcats.

Baylor signee Bryce Petty went 14-for-14 for 190 yards and three touchdown passes.

Virginia Tech running back David Wilson rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown to help the U.S. win the first world tournament of American football for players age 19 and under.

The U.S. roster of incoming college freshmen crushed France and Mexico in the first two rounds by a combined score of 133-0.

Petty, a Baylor recruit, connected with Kevin Cummings for a 53-yard touchdown, then came back two minutes later with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Erik Lora that put the United States up 32-3 entering the fourth quarter.
