Kids Against Hunger

Mitch Green/Telegram
Max Corley, 11, of the Central Texas chapter of Kids Against Hunger pours rice into a funnel to be added to packages of meals for disadvantaged children.

The children and their parents in the packaging line are helping to make about 7,000 meals that will be dispersed in the nation and around the world to children who suffer from malnutrition. One bag of food provides six meals. The food is a nutritionally balanced formula with the appropriate amount of vitamins and minerals a child needs. Two-thirds of the shipments go overseas; the rest are distributed in the U.S.

Kids ages 8 and older - Scouts and adults from several different churches, including Methodist, Baptist, Catholic and Temple Bible - gathered for the first workday to aid the international organization’s efforts.
