Down 48-41, Rosebud-Lott's Deandre Thompson ran in from 23 yards out in overtime and Ernesto Flores ran in the two-point conversion to end the game in the first overtime.
Moody (1-1) forced overtime with 11 seconds left in regulation when Stetson Jaske hauled in a 4-yard touchdown pass from Nate Wilburn. Wilburn hit Justin McNeely for the tying two-point try to force overtime at 41-41.
Thompson scored on runs of 50, 6 and 23 for the Cougars (1-1), who got their first victory under first-year coach Robby Edwards. Flores scored on runs of 39 and 27 yards, plus three two-point coversions and also threw two touchdown passes to Jared Hodges from 5 and 14 yards. Flores and Thompson combined for 374 yards on the ground.
Moody's Walter Hammond exploded for 234 yards rushing with five touchdowns on runs of 2, 14, 3, 80 and 2 yards.
Killeen Ellison 21, Del Valle 7
KILLEEN - David Cobb scored on runs of 10 and 16 yards to lead the Killeen Ellison Eagles to a victory over the Del Valle Cardinals in a non-district game at Leo Buckley Stadium that was limited to just one half due to rain.
Del Valle (1-1) struck first on a 1-yard run by Aaron Chisholm in the first quarter, but after that it was all Ellison (2-0).
The Eagles racked up 16 yards on the ground - 92 by Cobb - and had 73 through the air in the win.
Copperas Cove 36, Waco 24
WACO - Brandin Byrd and William Wright scored two touchdowns each as the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs held off a late Waco rally to improve to 2-0 on the year. The Lions fell to 0-2.
The Bulldawgs took a 28-3 lead into the half. Wright scored on runs of 9 and 2 yards, Brelan Chancellor had a 12-yard run and Byrd scored from a yard out.
Waco scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter but couldn't overcome the early start by the Bulldawgs, who had eight different players carry the ball, led by Chancellor with 99 yards.
Rockdale 7, Lampasas 6
ROCKDALE - Joe Sanders connected with Brandon Gibbs on a fourth-quarter touchdown pass as the Rockdale Tigers edged Lampasas at Tiger Stadium.
The Sanders-to-Gibbs strike went for 10 yards for Rockdale (2-0) with 9:57 to play.
The Badgers had an opportunity to win later in the fourth, but Michael Shaunessy's 40-yard field-goal attempt fell just short.
After a scoreless first half, the Badgers (1-1) got on the board with a 3-yard run by Edward Grant. The snap on the extra-point attempt sailed high, leaving the Badgers with a 6-0 lead.
Bruceville-Eddy 18, Centerville 13
EDDY - The Bruceville-Eddy Eagles spotted Centerville 13 points but came back with 18 unanswered to win.
Sul Ross slipped into the end zone from the 6 with 2:37 remaining in the game for the Eagles first lead and decisive score.
Ross scored on a 7-yarder with 49 seconds left in the third quarter to move within one, 13-12.
The Eagles (1-1), who gave coach Chris Lancaster his first victory, got on the scoreboard for the first time on the last play of the first half when Sheldon Walker hit Mark Alvear with a 29-yard pass to make it a 13-6 game.
Walker completed 10 of 18 passes for 171 yards to lead the Eagles.
Academy 60, Granger 8
GRANGER - Kyle Kuban threw three touchdown passes and ran for one, and Layton Willis broke for a 94-yard touchdown jaunt as the Academy Bumblebees routed Granger.
The Bees (2-0) piled up 475 yards and kept the Lions (0-2) bottled up most of the night. Academy ran off to a 32-0 halftime lead and kept it rolling in the second half.
Kuban hit Marshall Whorley on a 75-yard scoring strike for the game's first touchdown. The pair struck again in the fourth on an 8-yarder. Kuban found Trent Denio on a 29-yarder early in the third.
Granger's only score came in the third when Juan Torres went in from the 1 and Jaron Davis went in for two points.
Franklin 26, Salado 15
FRANKLIN - Franklin rushed for 307 yards and held Salado to only 51 on the ground, sending the Eagles to their first 0-2 start since 2001.
Cole Brentham's 22-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Ward and Colton Norman's ensuing two-point conversion run gave Salado its only lead of the night in the third quarter.
The Lions (1-1) answered fourth-quarter TD runs by Randolph Rutledge and Scott Sanders to pull away.
Brentham passed for 193 yards, with Ward hauling in seven catches for 102 yards, but Salado's rushing attack never got going against a Franklin defense that surrendered 216 yards on the ground last week.
Thorndale 28, Jarrell 9
THORNDALE - Thorndale capitalized on three Jarrell turnovers and rolled to victory at Bulldog Stadium.
Paxton Jordan hit Tyler Morton with a 65-yard bomb on the first play of the game to give the Bulldogs and early 7-0 lead. Jarrell (0-2) answered with a 27-yard field goal by Chris Jensen later in the quarter to make it 7-3.
The Bulldogs (1-1) ran off 21 straight points before Jarrell added a touchdown late when Aaron Burns hit Daniel Tucker on a 75-yard strike.
Clayton Kovar led Jarrell rushers with 83 yards.
Bartlett 20, Iola 8
IOLA - Gabriel Gadison scored two touchdowns and threw for one as the Bartlett Bulldogs toppled Iola.
Gadison broke loose on a 56-yard scamper in the first quarter and 25-yarder in the second to give Bartlett (2-0) a 12-0 halftime lead.
Iola (1-1) cut the lead to four when Trevor Fairbanks went in from 25 yards out and Chris Ebers ran in the two-point conversion.
Bartlett put the game away in the fourth when Gadison hit Eric Walker on a 29-yard touchdown pass and hit Leonard Hinojosa for the two-point conversion. Gadison, who led all rushers with 96 yards, also picked off two passes.
Milano 13, De Leon 7
DE LEON - The Milano Eagles made the long trip to De Leon and came away with a victory at Bearcat Stadium.
The Eagles got on the board first in the second quarter when Matthew Jentsch hit Thomas Sanders with a 50-yard pass. Ryan Karl added the PAT and the Eagles (2-0) led 7-0 at halftme.
In the third quarter, Jentsch went in from the 1 for a 13-0 lead.
De Leon stayed within striking distance by blocking an Eagle punt and recovering in the end zone for a touchdown with seven minutes left for a 13-7 margin.
The Bearcats had another opportunity, but Andrew Evans picked off a pass with two minutes left to seal the game for the Eagles.
Central Texas Christian 72, Buckholts 54
BUCKHOLTS - The Central Texas Christian Lions overcame a three-touchdown deficit in the first quarter to run away with a victory over Buckholts.
Jeremiah Bergert amassed 303 yards of rushing for the Lions, rushing for seven touchdowns and throwing two.
Bergert scored on runs of 8, 11, 12, 6, 2, and 12. He threw scoring strikes to Jacob Brown for 18 yards and to Andrew Townsend for 49 yards.
Caleb Paschall also scored on a 28-yard run for the Lions (1-1) and Jon-Mark Crothers went in from 25 yards out.
Buckholts (0-2) got out of the gate quickly with a 28-point first quarter.
Justin Barker went in from the 3, William Watson scored on a 35-yard interception return and a 61-yard jaunt. Jesus Reyes ran in from the 16 and Barker added a 6-yarder in the second quarter as the Badgers led 34-26 at halftime.
Holy Trinity Catholic 36, Dallas Academy 18
RICHARDSON - Holy Trinity Catholic scored five straight touchdowns and ran off to victory over Dallas Academy in a six-man game.
Carlos Frederique scored on a 9-yard run and a fumble recovery in the end zone and Jacob Daheim ran in from the 20 as the Celtics (2-0) ran off 22 points in the second quarter. It gave the Celtics a 22-12 lead at halftime.
Holy Trinity tacked on two more unanswered touchdowns in the second half. Daheim hit Chris Watson on a 60-yard pass and James Cross on a 25-yard touchdown strike.
The Celtics picked up 213 yards and managed to hold Dallas Academy (0-2) at bay after spotting it 12 points.
