Short sleeves were traded for long sleeves Friday morning after a cold front swept through Central Texas overnight.

Temperatures in Temple dropped by 34 degrees within 24 hours. Thursday's temperature at 11:35 a.m. registered at 88 degrees, on Friday morning at the same time the temperature had dropped to 54 degrees. The high for the day was expected to be in the 60s, but temperatures at Draughton-Miller Airport only got up to 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

While some areas of Central Texas received more than two inches of rain, Temple had recorded just under an inch by Friday evening. The south end of the city saw a little over an inch.

The rain had all but disappeared Friday afternoon; only a few puddles remained.

Today, the National Weather Service has forecast partly sunny skies with a high of around 72 degrees and north-northeast wins of about 10 mph.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 52 degrees.

The rain may return Sunday with forecasters giving a 20 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m. The day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 72 degrees.

There's a 40 percent chance of rain on Columbus Day with temperatures in the low 80s.
