Such was the case Thursday night in the Lady Leopards' convincing 25-16, 25-17, 25-12 win over Ranger College at TC Gym in their final home conference match of the year.
"It was important to get it done," Reese said. "The girls did win, though it was sloppy. That leaves me worried about Tuesday's game being sloppy. We go to Cisco and they play well at home."
The Lady Leopards (16-20 overall, 7-1 in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference) need a win at either Cisco or Vernon to secure at least a share of their fourth consecutive conference title and the top seed in the NJCAA Region 5B Tournament, Nov. 6-7 at Brookhaven College in Dallas.
"(A loss) could have hurt us," Reese said. "We'd still be in the lead because of the head-to-head (against Hill) but we are not done. We still have Cisco and Vernon and if we play like that anybody can beat us."
The Lady Leopards never trailed in any of the three sets, but they also never really dominated the Lady Rangers, who fell to 8-21, 0-8.
