With the win, Caldwell (6-1, 4-0 District 24-3A) secured one of the league's three playoff spots. The Tigers (7-2, 3-2) remain in the hunt for a postseason berth.
The game promised to be an old-fashioned showdown between teams that prefer to run the ball, but only the Hornets lived up to that promise. Caldwell churned out 23 first downs and 254 yards rushing, while the Tigers managed only 46 yards on the ground and 10 first downs.
Woolverton was the workhorse for the Hornets, carrying the ball 34 times. Nelson Scott added 92 yards on 19 carries.
Unable to move the ball consistently on the ground, Rockdale was forced to go to the air. Quarterback Joe Sanders completed 10 of 18 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Gibbs caught four passes for 106 yards.
