Halloween parties are becoming scarce in schools

Gone are the days of little monsters roaming the hallways of schools - costume parties have either been replaced or are gone altogether.

Under the Texas Department of Agriculture nutritional guideline policies state the number of party days at elementary campuses is limited to three per year. These are really the only days when candy rewards are allowed in the classroom.

So instead of celebrating Halloween, schools now often hold parties before winter break, on Valentine's Day, and on a day in the spring to celebrate events like field days.
