Akeshia Hemphill, 26, says she and her two children lost their home, clothes, furniture and food in an early morning house fire Wednesday in the 800 block of North Orchard in Cameron. She lost her job as a certified nurse’s aide last week.

CAMERON - Akeshia Hemphill, 26, lost her job as a certified nurse's aide last Thursday. Wednesday morning, shortly after she left home to drop her children off at daycare and school, she lost her home.
A cousin called Ms. Hemphill to tell her that a neighbor had seen her house on fire just as her son Pharrell, 5, was getting out of her vehicle at school. The rented house in the 800 block of North Orchard Avenue was a total loss.
