Area roundup: Temple-Bryan volleyball tiebreaker Friday night at Leander Rouse

The Temple Tem-Cats face the Bryan Lady Vikings at 8 Friday night at Leander Rouse High School to decide which team receives District 12-5A's final playoff berth.

Temple (21-16) and Bryan (17-17) finished league play tied for fourth with 8-6 records. The winner faces 11-5A champion North Mesquite in a Class 5A bi-district playoff match next week.

Temple-Belton tickets on sale today

Tickets are on sale for the Temple-Belton rivalry game at 7 tonight at Wildcat Stadium.

They will be sold at Temple's athletic office and there is a limit of 10 adult tickets per customer. Tickets are $7 for general admission and $3 for children. All tickets sold at the gate are $8. For more information, call 215-7093.

Tickets also can be purchased 8 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the Belton athletic business office at 400 N. Wall St. There will be approximately 5,000 seats available on the visitors' side.

Fans are encouraged to arrive for the game early. No Halloween costumes or face paint will be allowed. For more information call 215-2024.

Salado boys, girls sweep 25-2A titles

SALADO - The Salado boys and girls won team titles at the District 25-2A meet Wednesday at Tenroc Ranch, leading a large group of area runners who qualified for regional competition.

The top three teams and top 10 individuals qualified for the Class 2A Region IV meet on Nov. 7.

The Eagles were led by individual winner Jace Peralta, who won the 5k race in 17 minutes, 16.9 seconds. Also finishing in the top 10 for Salado was Juan Cazarus and Patrick Murray. Jarrell finished second and Lexington finished third to round out the qualifying teams. Individual qualifers were Academy's Connor McAtee and Rogers' Kevin Marek.

Academy's Emily Koenig finished first in the two-mile race in 11:24 to help the Lady Bumblebees to a second-place finish. The Lady Eagles had three top-10 finishers, Lindsy Martin, Lupe Perez and Brittney Frazier. Rogers was third to claim the final team spot and Jarrell's Nancy Juarez qualified individually.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

UMHB to don pink in final home matches

BELTON - Mary Hardin-Baylor will wear pink uniforms, sell pink T-shirts and raffle pink volleyballs during its final two home matches today and Friday at Mayborn Campus Center.

The Lady Crusaders meet LeTourneau at 5 pm. today before facing Texas-Tyler at 7 Friday night. All proceeds will go to the national "Dig Pink" campaign as part of breast cancer awareness month.
