Theron Palmer

SALADO — Visitation for Theron Palmer, 79, of Denton, formerly of Salado, will be 1 p.m. today at Broecker Funeral Home in Salado.

A private graveside service will follow.

Mr. Palmer died Saturday, Oct. 31.

He was born on March 8, 1930, to Estella Long and Theron Orville Palmer in Duncan, Okla. He was a graduate of UCLA with a master’s degree in journalism. He served with General Macarthur during the occupation of Tokyo in the Korean War. He married Violet Scherer on Aug. 17, 1950. He worked in publishing, retiring in Salado. He spend 17 years in Salado, where he built and leased properties on Main Street, known as the Colony. He served on the acquisitions committee for the Salado Public Library. He was preceded in death by a daughter Laura.

Survivors include his wife; a son Theron Palmer; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, books may be sent to Salado Public Library, 1151 N. Main St., Salado, 76571.
