Mr. Winnett was born May 28, 1933, in Troy to J.R. and Nona Mayberry Winnett. He was a resident of Temple his entire life. He was an U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a captain for the Temple fire department and retired in 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Alana Carole Wernli of Temple, Dana Lynn Peterson of Portland, Ore., and Anna Mae Winnett of Victoria B.C. Canada; a stepson, Scott Williams of Temple; a stepdaughter, Teresa Lynn Williams of Temple; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Omega Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon is in charge of arrangements.
