Temple Animal Shelter accepting donations for Killeen facility

The Temple Animal Shelter is accepting donations for Second Chance Animal Shelter in Killeen after smoke from a Sunday morning fire killed more than 100 cats and dogs.

Some 95 cats and kittens and 15 small dogs died at the shelter on Clear Creek Road, which is closed until the facility can be restored, said George Grammas, volunteer president of Centex Humane Society. About 120 cats, 40 kittens and 120 dogs were at Second Chance at the time of the fire, he said.

Surviving animals have been relocated to foster homes temporarily, he said.
