Mrs. Guess died Wednesday, Nov. 4, in a Clifton hospital.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1903, to Elbert F. and Epsie Bennett Liles in Wise County. She was a 1924 graduate of Post High School. She married Ernest Clay Guess on June 30, 1928, in Post. She worked in the cafeteria for Salado ISD, 1958-1968. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in Salado and the Women’s Missionary Union for more than 50 years. She was an active member of Salado First Baptist Church, where she sponsored the Royal Ambassadors and taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, James Lynn Guess and Liles Clay Guess; and a daughter, Juanda Gene.
Survivors include two sons, Daryl Wayne Guess of Georgetown and Larry Wade Guess of Temple; a daughter, Ernestyne Spencer of Lake Whitney; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton.
