The outright 16-2A title is up for grabs at 7:30 tonight when the only district unbeatens clash at Bulldog Stadium.
"We've been taking it one game at a time," Troy coach Grady Rowe said. "Now, Week 10 is here and the district championship is on the line. We're excited and ready for a battle in McGregor."
The Trojans and the Bulldogs have been on a collision course after beating third-place Crawford in back-to-back weeks. Since then, they've taken turns pummeling the rest of the district.
Troy (8-1 overall, 6-0 16-2A) has ripped through its last four opponents by a combined score of 216-14, while McGregor (9-0, 6-0) has won 130-29 during that span.
It's been an impressive display of dominance, especially by the Trojans.
"It has a lot to do with our leadership and experience," Rowe said. "They've done a great job of focusing and being prepared."
Nothing figures to come easy against the district's most complete teams.
The Bulldogs' defense is their most impressive unit. They allow an average of just eight points per game and haven't allowed more than two touchdowns in any game.
"They're real big and strong up front," Rowe said. "They play physical football. We know it's going to be a challenge."
The Trojans haven't had trouble moving the ball on the ground on anyone this season, ranking second in the area with 2,813 yards (313 per game). Running back Cyrus McKenzie has 978 yards in eight games and averages 16 carries and 122 yards per game.
