FORT HOOD - An Army major accused of killing 13 and hospitalizing 30 in a mass shooting at Fort Hood a week ago officially was charged with murder Thursday.

Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old psychiatrist assigned to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, was charged with 13 specifications of premeditated murder under Article 118 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
