"Coach McAdams is still our athletic director, but he will not be at school this week or on the sideline for our game Friday night," Academy ISD superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said Monday evening. "It is an internal personnel matter, and I won't comment on anything beyond that."
According to McAdams, he was called into the superintendent's office Monday morning, then was relieved of his coaching duties and placed on one week of paid administrative leave.
He believes the decision was made based on an incident that occurred during Friday night's home game against Rogers.
"I mouthed an obscenity at a heckler," the 26-year head coaching veteran said. "I wish I hadn't have done it. I didn't say anything vocally and wasn't trying to cause a commotion.
"I would hope there's enough positive things that I've done to outweigh that one bad decision. I guess the superintendent thought I hadn't done enough positive things."
