COLLEGE STATION - Area Class 3A schools Cameron Yoe, Rockdale and Gatesville fared well Thursday on the first day of the 7-on-7 State Championship in Division II and moved into the title bracket today at Texas A&M’s Penberthy Intramural Fields.

Competing in separate four-team pools in the 32-squad field for 3A, 2A and A schools, Gatesville went 3-0 by beating Goldthwaite, Marion and Pilot Point; Yoe was 2-1 with wins over Melissa and Edna (27-20 in double overtime) and a loss to Graham; and Rockdale also was 2-1, losing to Snyder before beating Lorena and Lago Vista.

At 8 a.m. today in the 16-team, single-elimination championship bracket, Yoe and Gatesville will clash while Rockdale battles Brownwood, which along with Gatesville was one of seven 3-0 squads on the first day. The title game is at 12:45 p.m. at Kyle Field.
