College baseball: TC not satisfied with split at Blinn

Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 4:30 AM

BRENHAM — Under normal circumstances, Temple College baseball coach Craig McMurtry might not consider a doubleheader split at formidable Blinn College a negative result.

But because his Leopards pounded out 21 hits and allowed only seven on Tuesday, McMurtry couldn’t be satisfied by going 1-1 for the day.

Sam Fry and three relievers combined on a three-hitter and Taylor Bridges hit a two-run home run to lead Temple to a 4-2 win in the opener, but the Leopards committed four errors, walked seven batters and hit four in the finale as the Buccaneers rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to prevail 9-4 and split the twinbill.
